How does direct debit billing work and when am I charged?
Short answer: You pay by UK Direct Debit through GoCardless, monthly. Your website goes live before the first payment is collected.
Steps
- After you sign up, open Set up your Direct Debit on the thank-you page.
You can also go to https://sortedonline.uk/signup/direct-debit.
- GoCardless shows your plan and the amount you agreed. Press the button to
continue.
- Enter your bank details on GoCardless's secure pages and authorise the
Direct Debit.
- GoCardless returns you to us. We show the status of your mandate (your
permission for us to collect).
- Your bank and GoCardless confirm the mandate. This takes a few working days.
- We collect the first payment after the mandate is active, then monthly on
the same date.
What to expect
Your website does not wait for the first payment. You can go live as soon as you set up the Direct Debit. The payment appears on your bank statement as GoCardless or sortedonline.uk. We never see or store your bank details; GoCardless handles them. To change your bank details or your payment date, email support. There is nothing to pay when you submit the sign-up form.
