How Sorted Online builds, hosts, and runs your website
Sorted Online is a done-for-you website service for UK sole traders and small businesses. You answer a short set of questions, we write and publish your pages, and you get your own domain and forwarding email for £15 a month by UK Direct Debit — with nothing to pay at sign-up.
This page is the long answer to "what actually happens?". It explains what runs when you sign up, what each part of the service does, and the technology that keeps your site fast, secure, and online.
What happens when you sign up
From your side it is one short form and one Direct Debit. Behind that, the platform does the rest:
- You answer a few questions. What the business does, the services you offer, how to reach you, and how you want to sound.
- We write your pages. Your words are generated and checked against a strict structure, then published as a set of clean web pages.
- We sort out your domain and email. Tell us the domain you want and we register it, set up the DNS, and connect forwarding email to the inbox you already use. If you already own a domain, we connect that instead.
- You finish with a UK Direct Debit. Billing is simple and cancel whenever you are ready to stop.
Your first site is usually live within minutes of the form, not weeks of design meetings.
Your website is written for you
We use an AI model to turn your answers into real pages, not a blank template. The model runs on Cloudflare Workers AI, close to the rest of the platform.
- Four pages, written in plain English. Home, Services, About, and Contact — the pages a customer actually looks for.
- Structure is fixed, so nothing breaks. Every page must match a strict content schema before it can publish. If something does not fit, the page is rebuilt rather than shipped broken.
- Your details are never invented. Phone numbers, email addresses, and service areas come from your form, not from the model. The model writes the copy; it does not make up facts about your business.
- You can change things later. Ask for an update and a fresh version is written for you. You review it before it goes live.
No page builder to learn, no drag-and-drop, no plugins to update. That is the main reason the price stays at £15 a month.
Hosted on Cloudflare's global network
Your site runs on Cloudflare, the network a large part of the internet already uses to serve and protect traffic. It is not a shared hosting account on a single server. That choice buys you four things that matter to a small business:
| What Cloudflare gives your site | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| A global edge network | Your pages are served from the location closest to your visitor, so they open quickly on a phone anywhere in the UK. |
| Automatic HTTPS | The padlock and secure connection are set up for you. You never buy or renew a certificate. |
| DDoS and bot protection | Attacks and junk traffic are absorbed at the edge so your site stays online. |
| Cloudflare for SaaS | When your own domain is connected, it gets a valid certificate issued automatically. |
Because your pages are generated as static files, there is no database query and no application server involved when a visitor loads your site. Static files are faster and far harder to break than a site that builds each page on every visit.
Reliability is part of the same choice. Cloudflare runs the network across many data centres, so there is no single machine whose failure takes your site offline. There is also nothing for you to patch, reboot, or back up.
Your own domain, set up for you
A domain is the address customers type: yourbusiness.co.uk. Every plan includes one.
- Choose a new domain. Tell us the name you want and we register it, create the DNS records, and attach it to your site.
- Or connect a domain you already own. We link it to your site and set up the records, so you keep the address you have always used.
- DNS and certificates are handled. We point the domain at your site and Cloudflare issues the secure certificate. Domain changes can take a few hours to settle across the internet, so send a test message once it is live.
You own your domain. If you ever leave, it goes with you — the address does not belong to a web designer or a platform.
Email that lands in the inbox you already use
Your plan includes forwarding email on your own domain, so you can hand a customer hello@yourbusiness.co.uk and still read it in Gmail or Outlook.
- It is an address, not another mailbox to check. Messages are forwarded to the inbox you nominate, with spam filtering at Cloudflare.
- You reply from your normal inbox or set it to send as your domain address.
- Add or change addresses whenever you like — the help centre shows how.
The guide to business email on your own domain explains why the address matters so much to customers.
Every change is versioned, and you can preview first
When a change is generated, it becomes a new, separate version. Nothing a visitor sees moves until that version is published.
- Preview before it is public. Every new version has a private link, so you can check the wording before it replaces your live site.
- Your live site is protected. If a change ever fails to build, the current version stays online. A bad edit cannot take your site down.
- Nothing is thrown away. You can keep a copy of an earlier version, which is useful if you prefer the old wording after all.
What you never have to do
- No design or layout work, and no coding.
- No page builder or plugin updates.
- No hosting account, server, or certificate to look after.
- No separate bill for the domain or the email forwarding.
If you want to know what that would otherwise cost, compare the numbers in how much a small business website costs or see how done-for-you compares with a DIY builder.
What it costs
£15 a month, paid by UK Direct Debit through GoCardless. That covers your website, your own domain, and forwarding email. There is nothing to pay when you sign up, and you can cancel when you are ready to stop. It is one price, not a build fee plus a hosting bill plus an email subscription.
Where to get help
Email hello@sortedonline.uk or read the help centre. If you have just signed up, what happens after you sign up walks through the next steps.
Next step
Start your website. Tell us about the business, choose your domain, and your site is usually live the same day.
