How do I renew or transfer my domain?

Short answer: Domains renew automatically each year while your Direct Debit is active. To move a domain away, ask support for the transfer code.

Steps

  1. Renewal: your domain renews automatically before it expires. Keep your

Direct Debit active so we can collect the renewal fee.

  1. If you do not want to renew, tell us before the expiry date shown on your

domain page.

  1. Transfer away: email support and ask for the transfer code. This is also

called an authorisation code or EPP code.

  1. We arrange the transfer code and unlock the domain with our registrar.
  2. Give the code to your new provider. They start the transfer.
  3. Nothing changes until the transfer completes. Your website keeps working.

What to expect

Most domains transfer in about five days. UK domains (ending in .uk) work differently: your new provider asks us to change the domain's tag, and you usually do not need a code. Moving a domain away does not cancel your website subscription; ask us to cancel that separately. If a domain expires by mistake, contact us straight away. We tell you if it can still be recovered, but we cannot promise it.
