What happens if I stop paying for my website?
Short answer: If a payment fails, your website stays live while we sort it out. If you cancel, we stop the Direct Debit and your website stays live until the end of the current billing month.
Steps
- If a payment fails, read the email from us. It tells you what happened and
how to fix it.
- Check that the account has enough money and that your Direct Debit
permission is still active.
- If you want to keep the website, sort out the payment. We will try again, or
help you set up the Direct Debit again. See what do I do if a payment fails?.
- If you want to stop for good, email
hello@sortedonline.uk from the email address on your account and write "Cancel my website".
- A person confirms the last day your website stays live and stops future
payments. See how do I cancel my website?.
What to expect
A failed payment does not delete your website. We email you before anything about your service changes. If payments keep failing, we may have to pause your website, but we always warn you first. When you cancel, we take no more payments and your website stays live until the end of the current billing month. Your domain stays registered in your name for the rest of its term. Cancellation is always handled by a person, never by our automated assistant. If you change your mind later, you can start again at https://sortedonline.uk/signup.
